Minoan  (mi-NOH-an)

Of or pertaining to the Bronze Age culture of Crete as exemplified by archaeological discoveries at Knossos. It was named for King Minos, somewhat misleadingly since the "Minoans" of Knossos worshipped a female goddess and may well have looked for their leadership to priestesses rather than male kings or priests.
